LHU Banking and Finance Students Gain Practical Experience at Techcombank Dong Nai

Beyond acquiring banking knowledge through classroom lectures, students of the Banking and Finance program at Lac Hong University (LHU) are provided with opportunities to experience a professional banking environment, engage with industry practitioners, and gain insights into current labor market expectations. The field visit and practical learning experience at Techcombank Dong Nai offered students valuable exposure to the banking profession as part of their academic journey at LHU.

On the morning of September 5, 2026, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at Lac Hong University organized a field visit and practical learning session at the Dong Nai Branch of Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) for 40 students from class 24NH112 of the Banking and Finance program. The activity was designed to strengthen the connection between academic education and professional practice, thereby helping students progressively bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and the realities of their future careers.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to experience the professional working environment of a commercial bank, learn about Techcombank’s operations, and hear first-hand insights from the bank’s representatives. Concepts previously encountered through lectures and textbooks became more tangible as students were able to observe actual workplace practices, engage in discussions, and raise questions concerning topics of particular interest to them. Through these interactions, students gained a more practical understanding of banking operations as well as the competencies currently expected of professionals in the banking and finance sector.

The program became particularly engaging during the interactive discussion between students and Techcombank representatives. In addition to learning about the professional working environment, students showed strong interest in internship and employment opportunities, as well as the knowledge and skills they need to develop in order to meet employers’ expectations upon graduation. Their questions were addressed directly by the bank’s representatives, enabling them to recognize that while professional knowledge provides an essential foundation for a career in banking, it must be complemented by effective communication skills, professional conduct, a proactive attitude, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic workplace.

The value of the visit, therefore, extended well beyond simply entering and observing a banking workplace. More importantly, it enabled students to better understand the connection between what they are learning at university and the professional responsibilities they may undertake in the future. Early exposure to a corporate environment allows students to identify career requirements at an early stage, proactively refine their learning objectives, develop essential skills, and prepare themselves more effectively for future internships and recruitment opportunities.

The field visit and practical learning experience at Techcombank Dong Nai also reflected the Faculty of Finance and Accounting’s commitment to strengthening university–industry engagement in its educational activities. Alongside the acquisition of professional knowledge in the classroom, opportunities to interact with businesses, observe authentic workplace environments, and communicate directly with industry practitioners contribute to integrating practical experience into the learning process while fostering students’ career awareness from an early stage.

Each field-based learning experience provides students with an additional opportunity to connect academic knowledge with practice, deepen their understanding of their chosen profession, and identify the competencies they need to further develop. For LHU Banking and Finance students, the experience at Techcombank Dong Nai not only enriched their practical knowledge but also provided a clearer perspective on their future career pathways—where the knowledge acquired today can progressively be transformed into the professional competencies required for tomorrow.
